I have seen a Landy for sale locally has an old A reg plate and the DVLA has it registered as a 1955 1800cc standard, but it is advertised as having 3.5 V8 LPG converted Range Rover running gear and a modern 90 body on it.
Is this worth looking at or is it going to be a mine field getting it correctly registered etc?
Any advice very welcome : )

With the way things are at the moment with SVA tests and all the recent landrover thefts, the police are paying more attention than normal to landrovers so personally i would leave well alone. If it came to a SVA test or VIC check you could find yourself without a car unless you could provide all the reciepts/engineers reports etc.
Hope this helps
