I have been visitor of this forum for a while now, although have not registered until now. I feel the need to register at this point.
I have noticed that the thread re August playday cancellation has been locked !
I, myself run a forum, so am fully aware of how they work and what they are for.
Forums are a place for people to discuss topics and issues, providing the posts are not offensive, threatening, etc etc then a forum SHOULD give people the freedom of speech. If any thread has a post made that is not deemed acceptable then surely the author of the post should be approached and if necessary the post modified or removed, isn't that what forum admin and mods are for! It is not necessary in my opinion to close the whole thread.
The fact that the thread has been locked is concerning me, what is it saying?!?! well to me it is saying that the committee either do not want to hear the views of the members or do not care about the views of the members.
What is the point of having somewhere to express views, if when that happens the thread is locked. I am guessing it was a committee decision to lock it down, so I ask.... what are the committee scared of?!?! people who aren't scared to express an opinion!??! or is it that the committee can not/ will not answer the members questions?!?!

Well I have to say I am truely overwhelmed by the response to my post!
People have been logging into the forum all day and apart from one response, no one has bothered to reply. It is beyond me how a forum/club can run when people refuse to address issues. All I can say is I hope the committee take a more dedicated approach with the club, or else a much respected organisation will undoubtedly begin to fail. |

The thread was closed so that the message from the commitee would not get lost in a load of babble. I don't belive anyone has been stopped form carring on the descusion just not on that thread. _________________ MrHT do I really exsist |

| I respect the committee's decision about the playday but would have thought the best platform to publish their response to members general unease would have been on the main Web site for all to see instead of the 5th page of a topical thread aimed presumably to quell a few individuals. |

Mr HT,
don't you think that if the committee had given a DETAILED explanation posted preferably on web site as soon as decision was known, we could have avoided the "load of babble" . It would APPEAR that unless we complain (remembering i actually supported the decision and got flack for my efforts) we the members get treated like mushrooms.
We all, i believe, acknowledge now that the reason for cancellation was as a result of actions by others, but an apology recognising the lack of communication to it's general members would be welcome so that we can move on. |

May I suggest that the committee, learn how to sticky a thread ! That way the post wouldn't have been lost! standard procedure on a forum.
MrHT.... Are you a member of the committee?!? do you speak on behalf of the committee when you made your post?!?
Do the committee really believe that members opinions are babble?!? or is that just your opinion.
I actually find the fact you labelled the posts as babble, disrespectful to the members and their opionions !! |

Lack of communication....... This i believe is the main issue here. Having taken the time and effort to travel to the site, and see for myself, it was quite obvious(even for a simpleton gob shite such as myself) to see the reason why the event was called off. I think some comments aimed at individual members to be un-called for and petty, but then again some comments aimed at committee members were likewise, un-called for and petty. Don`t forget, at the end of the day it was no one elses fault the weekend was called off but the land owner. Surely over the years that the club has used the site he would have noticed the numbers of vehicles and campers/caravaners, spectators the event attracted. If for no other reason than courtesy you would have thought that, at least, a simple phone call to the club letting them know about the work could have been made. IF that had happened I don`t think we`d be having this "BABBLE" as its been described( i prefer debate, each to their own eh!!!) the committee would have had more time to come to the members and inform them of the matter. HEY..... if they`d had enough notice it may have been possible to make other arrangements. We`ve all lost out....both the club and the members, don`t compound the problem by squabbling amongst ourselves. ADAPT AND OVERCOME I noticed on one post, its not looking like that to me, more like DIVIDE AND CONQUER. It`s my opinion that the club and its members have been let down by ONE individual, it aint the end of the world, lets pick up the pieces and get on with it....... |

All I can say is yes I agree that the land owner is to take the highest percentage of the blame, but things could have been done differently.
Well let's hope mistakes are learnt from and that the club works better as a single unit in future or else.... well i'm sure you all know what will happen!!
