Hi guys
Just signed up today after finding this site. What I have seen so far looks very helpful. My question is
I have a std disco with AT tyres and am visiting my folks in Derbyshire the first weekend in December and thought it would be fun to do a few miles of off road driving while I was in this neck of the woods. I have experience of off road driving from previous 4x4s and pay to play sites so am not a complete numpty although I recognise the limitations of standard suspension/ground clearance and AT tyres. So are there any suitable tracks or routes I can take to see some nice scenery and locations yet not risk life and limb on a rocky cliff edge somewhere.
I don't want to be driving miles from Alfreton to play as I would already have driven from Essex the day before etc. So I guess anywhere within say 20 to 30 miles would be ok for a day out. Are there any documented routes on the web or this site. My parents do a fair bit of walking so should have appropriate OS maps I can borrow.
I am taking the wife and a couple of friends out (friends not been to Derbyshire before) and would like to take in some of the peak district if possible. Photo opotunities would be nice but knowing my luck with the weather it will be snowy, rainy and foggy all at once. Note to self, must make a point of visiting the old folks in the summer months.
Let me have some ideas while I still have a couple of weeks to plan routes etc.
Michael
