Am I the only person to not be happy about being charged £10 to camp for the 2 playday weekends? If you do not wish to marshall then I can see some sense in charging on a fund raising day, however, to "tax" people who give up their free time for the benefit of the club, to me, seems out of order. For years spectators have been charged £1, under 16 free; I have suggested an increase to £2, under 16 £1, under 5 free, our committee appear to have rejected this idea(I thought they wanted to increase revenue). We have approx £11,000 in bank, not exactly a desparate situation. Are the committee right?
Let democracy rule.

I can understand where you are coming from Bill,i dont camp(due to being old and delicate) but wouldnt be happy at having to pay to help out.Like yourself i have helped out at every playday virtually since they started(including being the only recovery vehicle at the busiest playday ever a couple of years ago)even the spectators commented on the forums about how busy it was.At times it feels like the club has forgotten its long term members??

WELL U DONT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER!!!!!!
Come on paul put the violin away you know you love all the attention of being the official recovery vehicle fly arround the site in ur more than capable motor rescuing stuck jap motors. and it is really aprciated by the club i know.
10 QUID WONT BREAK THE BANK WILL IT. The club need to keep sum cash in the pot just in case. god for bid what happens if we get taken to court or sumthin daft like that 10.000.00 wont go far.
I think this is really childish as it says at the top you dont have to be a member |

I know i dont have to be a member Earl thats not the point, as Bill says the whole point of the playdays is surely to boost club funds so the members get a better deal and cheaper events.Plus the only reason that most members attend the playdays is to help out so is it fair to charge them for helping??
Also i thought one of the reasons of going limited company was so the club couldnt get fleeced in court if something went pear shaped?
As i said in my other post,i dont camp so it didnt affect me but i had several club members at the playdays say they agreed with the comments Bill made but they havent spoken up,why do you think the campsite was virtually empty at this event??.Also its nothing to do with loving the attention i try to do my bit to help out because i want to,the point i was making was the playday costs me plenty in lost wages and fuel, without having to pay to attend!! _________________ If you aint bust it,you aint trying hard enough!!! |

Like i said you dont have to come
I have had a look at other clubs on the internet to day and we are the cheapest
As for the people you spoke to i dont think the club need them either
come on 10 quid its not a fourtune 4, 3days camping in the peak district is it.
I thought bad was a small family friendley club
if any one knows of a cheaper day out i mean weekend i would love to know about it cos i carnt take my family out for under 100 quid anywhere |

so club members who have an opinion arent welcome then Earl?
£10 isnt a fortune i agree but the point Bill was making was to charge a bit extra to spectators rather than penalising the regular campers? _________________ If you aint bust it,you aint trying hard enough!!! |

If members are being charged £10 to camp at public playdays why aren't members who attend to spectate being charged????????

thats fine you don't agree so just turn up and spectate.
We don't tell anyone they HAVE to camp it's your choice. Perhaps if more people turned up to all the events we put on then we would not have to try and generate money else where. Just about every event we put on we loose money on. People put out lots of there spare time for FREE to try and make sure that those who do attend have a good time at a reasonable price. I'm sorry if all you misserable people don't wish to spread out the cost of ALL our events and keep them affordable.
