any one help a numpty please.....Not being much of a mechanic i`m pondering whether i should have a go at doing the job myself or letting someone else get their hands dirty....... WATER PUMP ON MY 200TDi, its a disco 200 in a defender if that makes the slightest difference. everything looks easy enough to get at (what ya can see anyway) but once i`ve started is it a straght forward case of whipping the old one off replacing and then new gasket and bolting up again or are there tricky things i`d be best leaving to someone who knows one end of a screwdriver from the other.....

Thanks MrHT, I`ve attacked it just like ya said and "The job`s a goodun" When you aint to hot with a set of spanners it can sometimes seem a bit daunting when you pop the bonnet. It only took a couple of hours (wouldn`t have took that if i didn`t have to grind the head off of one of the bolts that had seized) and everything was really straight forward, plenty of gasket goo on the case.......NO LEAKS!!! Funny ya mentioned surgeons though.......Don`t it hurt when that spanner slips off and ya smash all the skin off ya knuckles and rip the nail off ya thumb. Now i remember why i thought it was a good idea for somebody else to do the job
