EFI RV8 to CarbsWhat a pain in the ass this has been.
Started out wanting to convert my EFI 'Range Pig' to carbs becasue the EFI was causing me major headaches.
I pulled off all the un neccessary tat concerned with running the EFI and filed it under 'SCRAP'.
I then realised the fuel pump was too high pressure to cope with carbs and i got myself a Facet elctric jobbie. The challenge then is to get fuel up to the engine bay. I removed the EFI pump removed it from the main fuel feed but that meant the pickup pipe was only 3" so i lengthened the pickup pipe into the tank.
Next ball ache is the heater matrix pipes, the pump on the early V8 is different to mine so i had to adapt a 'T' piece to go into the matrix pipework.
The other probelm is the linkage for the carbs, mine is Auto and has a kickdown, i sabotaged the linkage from the EFI and adapted it to fit the 'SU's. I now have the EFI throttle cable and auto kickdown installed with the aid of some nifty welding (if i do say so myself).
Tomorrow's task is new rocker cover gaskets and re fit covers, fit inlet manifold and torque down, route new fuel feed and return pipe, mount facet and wire up.
All being well i will be playing at Holymoorside.
