Well having visited the site today and spoken to a number of disgruntled potential members and existing members I think for a bit of PR from the clubs stand they should have had some members of the committee sat at the gate explaining the situation rather than just leaving them to a small sign not really delivering the information. I also felt sorry for the "lucky winner" of the raffle prize of a trip around the course. ok she only travelled a small distance but there she was all the same. I believe that it was incumbant (help me here Mat)of the committee to contact ALL MEMBERS regarding the cancelation NOT just leaving it to the last minute visit to the website or paddocks!!!!!

So members and potential members were left unwelcomed by nothing but a sign.... way to go committee !!!
Nothing much could be done about the general public turning up as there is no way to possibly know who could turn up, but the members !! contact details are taken when they join aren't they?!?! phone numbers/ email addy's, time consuming to contact all I know but surely better than having egg on the clubs face ! |

| As I said in an earlier post, the committee need to look at how this has been dealt with and learn from it before a much respected club loses anymore respect. |

Agreed, hence my original post. I am surprised that the committee members haven't been on here to reply, well other than MrHT who managed to post 'hear hear' !!
Maybe it's a case of if they don't look then it isn't happening ! |

This whole issue started with the landowner changing the use of the land and I agree that a public playday was risky and should be cancelled. I started the main playday cancellation forum because i wanted to know how the decision was made to cancel. I do not think half of the commitee, diretors or the chairman knew till the action to cancel was taken. The committees statment that they were unanimous in the decision to cancel because of short notice is correct, only because they left it nine days before having the meeting and thererfore too late to make a better decision to possibly have a members playday. Some individual directors and commitee members appear to think they have power over the club and a greater say than other commitee members, this has to stop. I believe the commitee had an emergency meeting last week to iron out a number of these issues. Lets hope things work better in the future. Not everyone has internet an dsome one should have texted, phoned or emailed every member of the club. I know of three club members who travelled over 50 miles to the quary on sunday only to find it cancelled.
I would now like to know who was invited to the camping weekend, this should have been publicised to all club members as soon as the new camping venue was arranged (over a week ago), not added to the website on friday.
Communication is everyting in a club. Why was a mail shot not issued? |

I would just like to add to the comments already posted.... I was at the quarry on Sunday and witnessed BAD members turning up for the play day having travelled over 50 miles, to be informed "The play day`s cancelled". One in particular was more than a little upset, and I can`t blame him. The "alternative gathering" was only a few minutes up the road, would it have been so difficult for a committee member to be stationed by the site to explain the situation or did the committee really think that they had done all within their power to contact the membership. Having travelled 50 miles they would have probably enjoyed the alternative get together a little way up the road had they known about it... ENOUGH SAID, BYE....
