Do you know any good sites we could use, or ones that we use already that would fit the bill Anybody fancy organising one or helping with it let me know, either as well as, or instead of the one Garry might have on the back burner. I will help you out with the regs and the permits etc
what do you think

By organise I didnt really mean on the day as you lads will be keen to take part, If you could have heads together session and have a think about winch challenge related things to do within the event. As we cant actually run a staright winch event it has got to be a challenge unless of course you think there would be enough caged motors to make it work while either way I will try and make sure it is a topic for the AGM, if one or two winch type people can come to fight your cause not that it will need much, we just need to know we have got enough interested members to make either a challenge or winch event worth while, we could even do one of each type if we had the interest, or do two events in one at the right venue.
Dan does anything ever happen at the quarry bit of trentham gardens anybody know any contacts or is it all full of monkeys or something _________________ Regards

dont worry pal i am sure you will have no probs selling em on.They always come in handy as i found out the other week.Had some serious abuse over the past 3 years and it explodes going to the paper shop
only fitted as temporary though too,got another ARB to go in when my cvs/shafts arrive(££££££s )
Matt,on the subject of if there would be enough interest i dont think it will be a problem.I am sure we could sort something out for different classes/specs of vehicles if necessary or a handicap system. For example at rushton last year we could only use the front winch(only a couple of us had 2 winches).Dont think we will ever get a site to rival the big events without going miles away. After all the past 2 bulldog sites, muddy truckers,AFC have all been in scotland but thats defeating the object.
Think the main aim is to introduce more people into the challenge scene without dropping them in at the deep end and costing a fortune(usual entry fees £150-250 per car )
If we could get another event like last years at rushton i would be happy. It was nice to take part in a light hearted fun event without being to competetive for a change, and it got quite a few new faces involved in the sport
Paul
P.s if anyone fancys getting into winch events,i will have a winch(or 2)for sale later this month _________________ If you aint bust it,you aint trying hard enough!!! |

i agree afink we need to not have it redicously hard, im pretty new to the scene aswel and still learning
what we want is a few nice event leading up to d-day at the end of the year
sorta point table or similar
but still keep it as a nice day out/ learning curve like scorpion racings novice challenge

on a big event the deciding factor can often be navigation which is why i have gps mapping in the car.Unfortunately to have a good navigation challenge you need a very large site(1000s acres!!).But on a small site there is nothing to say it cant have some very challenging punches to spice things up a bit
Another option could be to offer different points for different punches eg. the harder the punch the more points its worth. That way less experienced competitors could chose which punches they attempted and felt comfortable attempting
on our first big event(bulldog2004)it was a very steep learning curve for us but the progress we made in that weekend was amazing,in some respects it was good to be dropped in at the deep end.Watching the more experienced drivers opens your eyes to what can be done and it isnt long before you are attempting things you wouldnt have thought possible.
After all this sport is growing at a fantastic rate.As Brian Hartley(C.O.R)said,when he first ran the bulldog if you had 1 winch and bfg mud terrains you were classed as god like, nowadays the standard class motors are higher spec than that and some of the modifieds have to be seen to be believed _________________ If you aint bust it,you aint trying hard enough!!! |

What I really meant was, to do a challenge event like we had at rushton the winch was used for recovery purposes to get to the punches, and winch games if you like, for a event at this level you don't need a roll cage or roll bar but its recommended, All I thought was that if we had enough people with the right kit, full cage and a few other bits and bobs you might want to do a few things a bit more interesting that was all, I know the site doesn't have to be big, I have seen people get themselves into places at Holymoorside that have taken 1/2 a day to winch them out I can also see that keeping things light hearted is a good thing. It would be good to see more than one on the club calendar using different sites to the ones we use for trials more suited to the challenge type events.
